With Hardship Comes Ease

Story Time: The Rainy Day and Allah's Sunshine!

Assalamu Alaikum, little friends! Have you ever had a day when things just didn't go your way? Maybe your favorite toy broke, or it rained when you wanted to play outside, or you found a tricky puzzle. Those moments can feel a bit sad or difficult, right? These little tough times are like small tests from Allah!

Imagine you are doing a puzzle. Sometimes a piece doesn't fit, and it feels hard. But you keep trying, and suddenly, it fits! And how happy you feel then! Allah gives us little tests like this in our lives, not to make us sad, but to make us stronger, kinder, and more patient.

Allah loves us so much, and He is always in control of everything. Even when it's raining, we know the sun will come out again, don't we? Just like that, Allah promises us that after every hardship, there is ease and sunshine. He says in the Quran:

"Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease." (Quran, 94:5)

This means when something is hard, ease is coming right after it! We just need to trust, keep trying our best, and remember that help is always with us. He is always there to listen to our prayers and make things easier, even if we don't see it right away. So, when things are tough, let's remember to be patient, ask Allah for help, and know that beautiful ease is on its way!

Parent Prompt

Dear Parents, when explaining this to your child, emphasize that Allah's tests are a sign of His love, not punishment. Frame challenges as opportunities for growth, patience, and turning to Allah. A simple point to emphasize is that just like clouds eventually clear for the sun, difficulties pass with Allah's help.

Interactive Idea: Let's play "Cloud and Sunshine"!

Draw some big grey clouds on one side of a paper and a bright yellow sun on the other. On the cloud side, draw something that feels a little hard (like a tangled shoelace or a difficult math problem). On the sunshine side, draw how you feel after you solve it or when things get better (like playing happily or understanding the math). Remember to say "Alhamdulillah!" when you see the sunshine!
